The Respiratory BRU based at Southampton General Hospital is a centre of excellence for research into prevention and therapies for major respiratory diseases such as asthma, cystic fibrosis, and lung infections. The unit was established in 2008 with funding from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and is led by Professor Ratko Djukanovic, Professor of Respiratory Medicine and Head of the Infection, Inflammation and Immunity Academic Unit at the University of Southampton Faculty of Medicine.
